Thoughts on the Eight Week MBSR Course

The eight week MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Relief) Course is a bit like running in the Grand National.  You arrive at the starting gate full of excitement and hope.  A little nervous about what is to come and how you will navigate through the eight ‘fences’.

The first hurdle is quite easy and pleasurable, so the going is good.  You look forward to the next one.

Each fence is different, some are easy, and you sail over, some you wonder if you will ever get over when you see them coming up.  However, you do.  You feel more confident and good about yourself as you ride over all eight fences.

It’s not about winning though, it’s about you.  Learning about yourself.  what you are capable of. You wish you had known how to do all this stuff much earlier in life.  But hey, let’s go from here.   The past is gone - finished - the future hasn’t happened, so all we have is now. This moment.  Make the most of it.
